What have you forgotten you enjoy?

Over the weekend I had some insight into myself.  I didn’t realise how I had been so busy with all the things that fill my life, particularly how much I do for others, that I had forgotten to spend time on the things that give ME pleasure and MY soul enjoyment. For the first time in months I was in my own company for just a few a hours, the house all mine (and the dogs’) the grass cut, the garden pots all watered.  There was a cup of tea with my name on it sitting at my side, our youngest dog snuggled beside me and the older one asleep on her bed at my feet, candles and a good book.

It was an evening of bliss, a moment when my brain went ahhhh.  We’ve all experienced those moments of bliss.  Why don’t we build moments like that into our lives more often? Or maybe they’re moments that can’t be or shouldn’t be planned, maybe they’re part of a bigger plan to remind us of what’s really important to us? Nature’s or God’s way of telling us to “slow down and smell the roses”.

Whoever gave it to me – God, Nature, my family or me – thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Watch out for your moment and when it comes don’t question why or when it will end just enjoy it for however long it lasts and be grateful for what comes your way. Carpe diem (Sieze the Day).
